Have you ever heard of the only native Hawaiian land mammal? It’s the ‘ŌPE‘APE‘A, also known as the Hawaiian hoary bat. They don’t live in caves but rather stay in the foliage of trees. I’ve seen a few fly around the house here at dusk. ‘Ōpe‘ape‘a in Hawaiian means “half-leaf” and refers to the resemblance of the bat’s open wing to part of the taro leaf. I used @stakiwicolours exclusively for the galaxy background (Golden shadow, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Paua, Mayan Teal and Disco ball).
